The News

According to Sue

The 27th of this month My son Gage turns 7. Hmmm .. what a guy! Hockey FANatic, baseball, swimming, bikes, fishing, quads, snowmobiles, frog hunting, and amateur Paleontologist .. I guess, to sum it up, he's a sports nut with a passion for frogs & dinosaurs! And .. even though he'll still allow me to give him a hug and a kiss at bedtime .. "the sky would fall in and life would end" if I were to try that when his friends might see!! ;)

On May 9th, 1999 Morgann will make her stage debut at the Red Deer College. Fourteen little girls, 10 under 6 years old, will tap their way into stardom to the catchy tune of "Zippy a dee do dah .. Zippy a dee day .. My oh My what a beautiful day" (boy is that tune wearing thin!). After eight months of lessons and practice, I can just picture them .. 3 frozen in terror; 2 waving at mom and dad; 2 "getting outta here" and heading for mom and dad; 2 shifting from foot to foot completely out of time to the music, because they forgot to use the washroom before they went on stage, and 5 others trying to perform amidst the jumbled lines and organized confusion!! :) Ahhh .. but you have to know, when the votes are cast for "best performance" .. there will be fourteen winners and a beaming crowd of proud parents, grandparents, and kin.

On a .. serious note..

Vote Ralph "tax hacker" Klein in, as Prime Minister of Canada.

On April 26th, sorrow and terror struck the hearts of the world again. A student in Taber, Alberta grabbed a gun, swore revenge, and took his frustrations out on his classmates in an irretrievable act of violence. You can blame it on the "music", you can blame it on the "news", you can blame it on the "internet" .. but "TAKE AWAY THE GUNS", and knives, and ... An Alberta School System Politician, is currently being quoted on the news as saying "metal detectors would send the wrong message to students and parents". I would like to see him "sent" personal messages from all those students and parents from across the continent, that grieve for the young souls lost, wounded, and affected by this insane trend. After reading them, maybe he would be able to distinguish the differences between the installation of a metal detector and the meaning of a life. Or maybe we could get him fired and have someone with common sense take his place.

Could it be possible for the school systems to add to each year of education, a whole lot more emphasis on the development and understanding of human emotions and relations, than to the pursuit of a career and money? Don't they realize that without the mental capacity to come to terms with and deal with the emotions, all the education in the world, careers, money, power .. just don't mean beans? Ahhh... what do I know? Squat I suppose!
